The Project -
Involving youth in politics - We are developing muliple web portals which encourage youth to enter politics, propagate political discussion and political thought, and support to get them to actually contest elections on the ground. The objective is also to make politics accessible to people from all layers of society, irrespecive of the aspirant's socio-economic status.
In short, we are creating a new breed of leaders of tomorrow.
The Job -
You will be responsible for developing, and further optimizing web portals which focus on building online networks of people centered around politics. We run these portals off Elgg. We will use/optimize/develop the framework be condusive for 100,000+ users and one which offers scalable application deveopment.
On the server side, constant upgrades will be made wrt database optimization, reducing db requests, using scripts such as C and Perl scripts to reduce load on the server, etc.
The Requirement -
Candidate must have relavant experience - i.e. in Elgg, and experience with linux server.
Additional skills (not mandatory, but preferred) - Javascript/Ajax/CSS
